DOBRA VILA

Blok, v katerem živim, je bil v sedemdesetih letih zgrajen za delavske družine. Nasproti njega je pred tremi leti zrasla luksuzna vila za nove, premožne prebivalce našega naselja. Zgradili so jo na mestu, kjer je nekdaj stala stanovanjska hiša s prostornim vrtom. Na njem je kraljeval velik črn pes.

Hišo so prodali in jo porušili dan zatem, ko sem se naselila v tej soseski. Gradnja vile je trajala približno leto dni. Ko so vilo zgradili, so uredili še vrt. Pripeljali so že »narejeno« travo in jo položili kot tepih. Na podoben način so na vrtu posadili tudi drevesa. Vse to so obdali z  visoko sivo ograjo, ki ne prepušča radovednih pogledov. Za njo se sedaj sprehaja drug črn pes.

DOBRA VILLA (“GOOD FAIRY”)

The apartment block I live in was built in the 1970s for working-class families. Three years ago, a luxury “villa” for the new, wealthy inhabitants of our neighborhood was developed across the road. It was built on the place where there used to be a house with a spacious garden ruled over by a big black dog.

The house was sold and torn down the day after I moved into the neighborhood. The construction of the villa took about a year. When it was finished, they put in the garden. “Prefabricated” turf was delivered and laid down like a carpet. A similar method was used for planting trees in the garden. It was all surrounded by a high gray fence that kept curious eyes from looking in. Today there’s a different black dog pacing behind the fence.
